Job Opening – Staff Geologist – Bellingham and Arlington, WA (4-14-17)

GeoTest Services, Inc. provides high level geotechnical engineering, environmental, special inspection, construction materials testing, and building science services. The firm is seeking a Staff Geologist for our Bellingham and/or Arlington offices. The position requires past experience performing geotechnical and geological investigations. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, thrive in a “hands–on” environment with limited supervision and be proficient with multiple software platforms. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is excited about our industry and is seeking growth opportunities.  40 hrs/week with OT as necessary.  All inquiries are confidential.

Specific Duties to Include:

  • Perform geotechnical investigations for a multitude of projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments
  • Field sampling of soil and groundwater
  • Ability to research regional geologic or historical site conditions, as well as proficiency in site investigations and/or inspections
  • Preparation of reports, work plans, and letters
  • Maintains project and office records, documents and prepares file records

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, or other geological science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the geotechnical consulting field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with a wide variety of field and investigation technologies
  • Washington State Professional Geologist license or Engineering Geologist License
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions
  • Ability to handle field equipment in excess of 50 pounds

Job Opening – Special Inspector – Bellingham and Arlington, WA (4-14-17)

The firm is seeking an ICC/WABO certified special inspector. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and thrive in a “hands on” environment with limited supervision. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is excited about our industry and seeks growth opportunities.  40 hrs/week with OT as necessary.  Salary D.O.E.  All inquiries are confidential.

Specific Duties to Include:

  • Perform special inspections for a multitude of projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments
  • Daily reporting
  • Reading construction documents including plans, specifications, and RFI’s

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification through ICC/WABO in one category at a minimum
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 is a plus
  • Ability to take direction; work well with others and independently
  • Nuclear gauge training is a plus
  • Excellent driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift equipment/materials from 50-70 pounds

Job Opening – Field Technician – Bellingham and Arlington, WA (4-14-17)

GeoTest Services, Inc. provides high level geotechnical engineering, environmental, special inspection, construction materials testing, and building science services. Exceeding 23 years in business, our team is known as an industry leader in the Pacific Northwest. The firm is seeking an individual with a college degree in a related field for this entry level position. The successful candidate will perform routine to complex sample pick-up and delivery of construction material samples in accordance with ASTM standards for laboratory testing. The person will be asked to perform various other tasks as needed to support our operations. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a “hands on” environment with limited supervision. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is goal oriented and seeks growth opportunities. 40 hrs/week with OT as necessary. Salary D.O.E. All inquiries are confidential.

Specific Duties to Include:

  • Drive to various project sites to pick up construction materials in accordance with applicable standards (ASTM, AASHTO, etc.) 
  • Coordinate with manager and administrative staff to troubleshoot issues
  • Perform other business functions as directed to support our operations

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent driving record is a must
  • Reliable vehicle, good communication skills (verbal and written) and positive attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take direction; work well with others and independently
  • Working knowledge of construction techniques and trades is a plus
  • Ability to maintenance various equipment is a plus
  • Nuclear gauge training and gauge safety certificate a plus (Troxler)
