Job Opening – Staff Geologist – Bellingham and Arlington, WA (1-25-18)

GeoTest Services, Inc. provides high level geotechnical engineering, environmental, special inspection, construction materials testing, and building science services. The firm is seeking a Staff Geologist for our Bellingham and/or Arlington offices. The position requires past experience performing geotechnical and geological investigations. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, thrive in a “hands–on” environment with limited supervision and be proficient with multiple software platforms. We seek an enthusiastic individual who is excited about our industry and is seeking growth opportunities.  40 hrs/week with OT as necessary.  All inquiries are confidential.

Specific Duties to Include:

  • Perform geotechnical investigations for a multitude of projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments
  • Field sampling of soil and groundwater
  • Ability to research regional geologic or historical site conditions, as well as proficiency in site investigations and/or inspections
  • Preparation of reports, work plans, and letters
  • Maintains project and office records, documents and prepares file records

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, or other geological science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the geotechnical consulting field
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with a wide variety of field and investigation technologies
  • Washington State Professional Geologist license or Engineering Geologist License
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent driving record and valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions
  • Ability to handle field equipment in excess of 50 pounds
